yalight people.

i'm doing a college asignment of what "social,cultural and historical conditions have effected music".and then present it in class

i have to choose one area of technological development to investigate that what significant effect on the development of music.
so im doing sampling. so i thought i will let you good folks of future producers abuot my progress and to let your own opinions and facts ect.

my ideas were to start with dub and talk about 'scratch' perry and king tubby with tape decks and then into emu mpc hiphop...basicly anything a sa,pler or a saple has effected the stat of music today.


even though this is for my work it is nice to have a different thread to the mix.

please help anything at all you think of just add it in.

I remember going to a website which had videos on the history of samplers, but i can't recall what website it was.. none the less check out Miles Davis "Tribute to Jack Johnson" album, it's said to be the first sampled record. Apparantly Miles Davis would just jam with his band and let the tapes roll and then the engineer would cut, copy and paste the best part to create something beatiful.

I think its a good thing to add the producers state of mind when sampling I found this video on the history of sampling its pretty interesting

its long but good I have the window media player version saved on my hard drive so hit me up if you got Yahoo Messanger drag and drop to send files back and forth.

I'm also doing a school presentation and research paper and need some stats for my paper. it's on building you own home recording/production studio my instructor says I need to count my word count down. I barely scratched the surface of building a home recording/production studio. lol what lazy instructor first time I found a instructor/teacher saying your paper too long. When I did my research paper for my English comp. I class my research paper was on Hip Hop my paper was 30 pages long. Lost the file I wonder if I could get a copy from that instructor lol.

safe bruv i gave some feedback for your thing. send some short clips of it to us for a read yeah? looks a good bit of work to do.
I prefer when you have work that can apply to yourself to which actually effects you and what you do...man school is stepping up it's game lol.
hope you get the grade ya wanted.

and thanx for the youtube thing. im at college at the mo so i cant get onto youtube cause they blocked it but i will save it into to my key though.

yeah peeps i started some work and thought it's safe to talk about the hosroy of the sampler and what was used before there was a pure sampler.
