you really cant do nuthin with 16mb right now, considering how production is so intriquet. You want to upgrade the ram. but dont buy akai's ram, they tax to much, you can get computer ram, you wanna get a 25g cause your mpc only reads half of the stick, witch would be 128. Find the specifications of the kind of ram it uses and look on compusa.com thats were i got mine and i bout it for only 30 bucks. 30 more bucks gets you a 1gig flash card.

16 mb is how much time/memory you have for your mpc to load and store samples(while its on)

Gear List
MO6 Mpc-1000 2 Technique 1200's Mbox pro 2
Protools, 2 Event 20/20 Moniters and a floor full of records.

Yes your sampling time will be alot shorter!!

Memory capacity 16MB standard (11.5MB for sound memory), expandable to 128MB
Recording time 136sec. (16MB, MONO), 24m28sec. (128MB, MONO)

Sampling in stereo will cut your recording times down to pretty half of what you will have in mono. For the time being sample in mono if you have some long samples. Yes you will be limited to the amount of sounds and programs the mpc 1000 will hold at 11.5mb. You can still get by or make some good stuff with the smaller sampling time you will have with the 16Mb.

get a 256mb 144pin 133Mhz CL3 SODIMM SDRAM . like Adlib311 said the mpc will only see half the ram so dont get 128mb. if you get the 128 ram the mpc will read 64mb.

Yeah, good choice on upgrading. Imo 128 is far more than you will ever need but stock, i can hardly make a song. I just bought laptop ram for like $25
