who else has the problem of gettting your samples to an 1/8 or 1/16 beat? i use the mpc 1000 and sometimes i think i just get lucky when i get to use the repeat button to lay down my high hats and snare runs--who knows of an for sure way u can always set your samples to the way u really want them- u know to song time--if that makes any sense to anybody??

I just answered almost the exact same question in this other thread..

http://www.futureproducers.com/forum...d.php?t=217683

Basically, getting your MPC set to the same tempo of your sample is key. Once that happens, it's all much easier. Don't be afraid to make your tempo 97.56 if that's what sounds best on the sample.

I wrote this song a long TIME ago...(back in '93 or '94)

i chop my samples small, and fine tune em to try and get the sound just about right - not machine like and completely lifeless but not off beat. Gives it a more loose live feel.

then again i dont use a mpc so it may not apply.
