Right now I'm using protools to record into from my pt-01 and slicing using regions and saving but I don't like using protools for this since I have to open a session/delete useless parts of regions..Audacity is simple but kinda seems too simple..I'm not sure of what other options I have. I'm trying to make my own drums from vinyl by filtering/EQing /Layeringand also make loops so loop playback is important. Is there any programs you all can suggest?

Well, what program are you using to sample in? You are just talking about recording and chopping right?
I personally use recycle, which works with reason, FL, live (i think) and probably other programs. Or you can easily use it with an mpc, or any sampler really (they make mpc's a bit easier than others).
Anyway, one thing i really like about it is that you can chop something up and still only have one file, when using most software apps. If your application doesn't recongize rex files, you can still render each chop individually and it's atleast easier in the sence you don't have to lable each chop when saving.
As for filtering/eqing. It does have a low cut, and high cut, as well as a 2 band eq. Pretty simple. I really don't use this much as it's easier to do in reason, plus, i don't like to eq until i mix (although i usually filter when i do my bassline). So to me, it's unimportant, for you, it may be different. I think it's a great program for software apps, hardware apps, and it's really easy if you don't autochop (this is where people get frustrated with the program).

Well recording drums and chopping audio files is one thing...and building layered, filtered, EQ'ed drum kits and loop librarys that are accessible and usable within a host program, is something else. At least 2 different programs are used (generally). One program to chop audio (Audacity, Recycle, or something fancy like Redmatica's Keymapper). Another program to let you arrange and trigger those sounds (i.e. a soft-sampler like Kontakt). This is why some don't consider any soft-sampler a real sampler, because the recording of the sounds, and the building of 'patches' is in 2 seperate places.
Recycle has always been great for chopping. It introduced the .REX format which lets the chops reside in one file, and other programs can read this file. If you're cutting up 2 bar drum breaks, this program is hard to beat.
..but I have heard that Redmatica Keymapper will also sort of guess at which sounds it thinks are hi-hats, kicks, snares etc. and names the slices accordingly. Then it allows you to save in many different sample formats. (This is sort of made for what you're talking about.)
I've also heard good things about Guru & Battery which are more drum-oriented sample players.
(Wish I had easier answers, it seems like all this should be easy but..no)

No. lol, you'll still need a program that records the audio first. Audicity should be fine, actually preferred for this because it's so simple. Record. Save. Open the file in Recycle.
The layering & filtering (same as EQing) part comes later in the production usually.

i recommend using adobe audition 2.0. select your audio track to record. quickly edit add EQ,comp, etc. has a spectral view and has the loopback feature your requesting. its easy to use, saves files really fast with great quality. i usually use that then load it to recycle.
damn. can i get any more commercial then that. im buggin now. late.
