Any su700 owners out there that have had luck opening su700 sample files on a zip into a MAC? I'm assuming that the su formats disks in some funky format, WHY?!! I want to move samples from my computer to the su and back again, is that possible? I've been just recording them over using the sues analog inputs, and that's fine right now, but eventually I'd like to just copy the files over without D/A/D conversion.

i can't see why not if u have a scsi zip to download the stuff on to then edit them in ur mac and export back as .aiff, ur better doing this on a Mac than a PC because mine just crashes if put on DOS disks in, it should read everything the Mac.

Actually can u tell me a bit about the SU700 because i might add it to my shopping list

for some reason, the su700 formatting on the zips is
unreadable by macs, and the sue actually saves files as .ssp, whatever the hell that is. I CAN, however open floppies on my mac, but that doesn't do me much good if I can't edit a freakin SSP.

mmmm... strange, i wonder if any new sample editors software support .ssp , another thing i thought about is using the digital upgrade on the su700 and having a digital soundcard (not possible for iMacs or cubes ) and link those two together and then save to zip.

if was to get one i'd put a jaz drive on it and use that

someone's working on a solution . . . at least one that'll work for you pc users. check out his guy! http://www.bestweb.net/~slinkp/pw_linux/su700notes.html
i don't care as much about sequencing on the desktop (although that would be nice, and I'm sure we'll see the day when we can sequence and record into performer, protools etc. and then just dump what we want into our sampler's(LISTEN UP YAMAHA!) and hit a gig, instead of endless hours peering into some two inch sampler screen) as I am concerned about getting files INTO the sue from a zip. I'm using my sue more and more everyday, It's a great machine. I considered akai and roland, but the sue's versatility won out. I've heard people complain that they can't seamlessly switch from song to song but that's nothing . . . just use something else (drum machine, 505, 303, vinyl) to make the transition. You know, MIX it up.
