i don't remember seeing this in my manual (and i really don't think it's
possible either but i thought i'd take a stab anyhow)

lets say i take a loop, chop it up and assign it to 16 pads
(pad 1 = sound 1, pad 2 = sound 2, pad 3 = sound 3...............)
now all is lovely so far but when it comes time to saving
my sounds/program(s) (what have you) i have all these generic
sample names which is no big deal but when i'm working for hours
choping up other loops i could have 7 sound 1's, sound 2's,
sound 3's.............and when i go to saving it will ask me if i want
to replace the sound 1 i already have saved w/the sound 1 i am trying
to save
here's the question "can i copy a name (not a sound) & just
paste it to the other sounds from that loop"

sorry about the long round about way to get to the point
just trying to be precise as possible
THANX for ANY helpful response

how about naming the sample after it is sampled instead of keeping it sound1...that way when you chop it up it names it horn1, horn2, horn3, etc.

Smart man, that works.
Or if you dont feel like naming shyt, what difference does it make if you have a lot of sh!t named the same thing, If you organise your sounds into their own FOLDERS on the mpc then you wouldnt have that problem. Its all about organization.

On my mpc EVERTHING IS NEAT AND TIDY every track sequence sound and folder is named.
