Are some producers using vocal remover programs to help flip songs? I am almost afraid to ask this question for fear of exposing a dirty little secret. But I dunno it may have already been discussed or is something that people don't discuss. I won't even ask if there is a program out there that does this easily b/c that would kill the game if there is. And I have too much respect for producers who don't use these kinds of tricks.
I personally haven't figured out how to sample yet. I mean I can put some **** together, but nothing that sounds over the top. Or reminds you of something you've heard before. Know what I mean? I'm sure you do. I can get one melody going and that's basically it.
After I get the melody laid down, I add my drum sounds. Add a few stabs from what I sampled. Very few changes in the music, if any. I get lucky sometimes but most times the end result is boring. This is why I don't sample.
I make beats by playing keyboards and using MPC or Reasons or Fruity Loops as a sequencer/drum machine. Works for me. I don't have that classic sound b/c I'm not sampling that often, but it's a good imitation. That way I look at it is, it's my sound and it's totally original.
However, if I had the skillz or knowledge I'd be sampling records or songs big time. I'm trying to develop an ear for it. I would luv to be able to sample records and do the damn thing. If anybody is willing to show me a couple things it would be greatly appreciated. I'm just starting to learn where to catch the breaks in a beat, but still struggling flipping it w/out it sounding like a bunch of noise afterwards...
I've tried to remove vocals from a couple of songs, just to see if it was possible.
I tried using 2 different programs and both had suspect results. You could still hear the vocals and it had this phasing thing going on. Sounded like a bad use of reverb. Anyway, I look very forward to hearing yall comments on this one!!!!!
