how do you make vocal recordings on pro tools sound professional or close to it. wat fxs would i use to make it better. my recording are commin out kinda dry and i wanna spice them up.
i would appreciate any feedback from any1 thanks
First things first, keep in mind commercail releases are usually mix and mastered in controlled environments and the quality of equipment being used is different. But untill then experiment with the plug-ins. I like to use a 4-band eq then reverb or whatever effect I desiring then I play the compressor and try to find a sweet spot. Oh then I tweak and tweak some more.
The most important thing is to have a good recording to begin with. This requires a good mic, pre and accoustics. There's not even a decent way to make a bad recording good with afterwards editing & processig .. acceptable results, sometimes.
But other than that, quality vocals usually sit well in the mix with just some compressor & eq.. I like the ones from Waves.
