I always hear people saying that you need to get your record collection up and everything but i was wondering what are the advantages of just having this exstenive record collection when you can just have a hard drive full of digital music im not talking bout downloading or bootlegging the music but if you can save space and have more of a collection depending on your hard drive. It even comes in handy while traveling instead of carrying a lot of crates.

I believe sampling from records gives better quality than mp3s.

And if it's digital... anyone could get it. For some producers it's all about collecting obscure and rare vinyl.

the thing about mp3 is it compress the file.which leads to the lost quality . a normal 20 track is 700 mb a
rip cd is about 92mb.

but if you do rip the the vinyl and save it as wav/aiff it would be better off then a mp3.

Jushen, the beauty is with old records most of them never get re-issued on cd. So meanwhile your sampling Marvin Gaye or Stevie Wonder common ****, I'm sampling Blue magic, Tusk, ELO . I would estimate that 50% of my samples are from old records which will never get re-issued, because theirs no demand for them. Everything I find on itunes/******** is common **** that everyone knows about. You can't find weird West Indies records from 1972 on Itunes.

I guess you could sample all your records to your computer, and then sell the records.
Save it all as .wav, and everything will be 100% the same.
So in theory you could have a harddrive full of vinyl.
If you really worried about harddrive space it's said that people really can't tell a .wav from a 256kbps mp3 so if you must store you sounds as mp3's use 256 or higher.
You can get external harddrives pretty cheap nowadays though, so saving in wav should'nt be too much of a problem.
