What other genre allows the producer to connect with the past songs and albums of time and bring them back into the limelight??

Discuss.

I'm in a positive mood today

Keep the sampling alive. Some can't sample like me, but I'm working on compositions for YOU GUYS to sample! (will be released in the future)

Peace

In jazz, it is quite common to "quote" other work in your solos. And sometimes even in your main theme.

I would throw in all kinds of stuff. Andy Griffith Show. Inspector Gadget.

In rock, I have heard it a little. For example, in Extreme's song "Rest in Peace," Nuno Bettencourt quote's "Voodoo Chile" in the outro of his solo. A shout out to Jimi.

I tried sampling some Willie Hutch, and Tony Williams' group Lifetime....Fred was the name of the track. Somebody please sample that! That sound is waiting to be sampled. I noticed dudes really ain't into fusion.

I got frustrated with sampled, I found myself playing my own versions of the records I admire.

That's right man!

How sad that dudes BS about Kanye West using the same sample YEAHS that Dilla used.

When 40+ years ago (more than that) Pianist Bud Powell quoted Dizzy Gillespie's famous trumpet lick on Woody 'n' You on the piano, on the album Live At Lausanne in I think it was '62...

And people who know Dizzy's discog....and that solo I'm talking about, that trumpet lick is basically IMPOSSIBLE, let alone to be executed so perfectly on the piano by Powell.

Most of the easy listening jazz is weak, like it's been castrated, and it's so tame and docile now.

Some fusion to check out:
