I was just sitting back bumping that mecca and the soul brother and it struck me kinda strange that producers dont make tracks like they used in the early to mid 90's. I myself love and try to replicate that classic boom bap sound and I try to incorporate that style into my beats. And it's frustating when I make a beat and I try to sell it and I get the "it sound too old school" comment..

I guess thats a good thing somewhat but its not putting food on the table and I was just wondering what you guys think about my style and 90's boom bap in general. You can check out my tracks on my soundclick page in the sig.. anyways discuss. I would love to hear everyones thoughts on this.. And I put this in the sampling forum because 90's music was nothing but sampled classic. so anyways discuss...

Like "No Name" said, your isht is good... Don't sweat the industry technique... Make your own lane and drive fast in it...

Find you a CL Smooth, somebody with some hunger. Someone who spits in the same vein that you create in and do for him as he (or she) does for you... In other words throw some vocals on the track. Highlight that thang...

The Revolution Track is SUPERHOT!!!... could definitely hear Nas on that
Loyalty is hot as well, just seems like you kinda gave it a main-streamish vibe, took away from the illness of it... sounds like something for a Fat Joe or someone of that calibur
My Other Woman is definitely on point, cross between Ye and Pete Rock, works perfectly

Dont sell out though, stay true to your style, you definitely found your niche... keep it up Bruh!!!

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i should put that as a quote in my sig.

but yeh, i look at it like this....
Don't try to sell your beats to kids, cause most kids are morons.
Look at it this way.. who's the only artist to go platinum in 2006?....
Jay-z... What was jay-z's lead single?.. Show me what you got!.. a sampled track from Shaft in Africa. now if YOU woulda made that beat.. kids woulda probably said, aw thats too old school.. but because jay-z did it.. its fresh.

Another example is the Kick push song by lupe fiasco..

People only THINK dem franchise boyz and MIMS are selling because they get so much radio play.. but what people don't know is they're going broke, because they pay so much for promotion, and radio play.. and dont sell any records...Which is why their careers are always short-lived.

REAL SKILL PREVAILS IN THE LONG RUN... just look at nas and jay-z

Don't be fooled by radio play and expensive looking videos. Skill still counts

Haha, I just copped that Shaft in Africa vynil. Heard that **** too and was like, damn Blaze, thanks for beatin me to the punch.

But yeah, I been making some beats that are a bit grimier.

I think that we are on the verge of some old school **** coming back. Music works in cycles, and at some point I think Hip Hop is going to have to go full circle. At least I hope it will.
