ok pete rock is sampling love is a battle field

1. how does he get the bass sound, and only the bass sound?

2. How does he get only the guitar part and not have the drum sounds in it?

3. So basically, how do you get one part of a song and isolate the rest?

for "love is a battlefield" I don't imagine it was very hard at all make the guitar sound solo'd. There is a section in the song that is sparse.

yea there's parts in that song where the drums are dropped. the thing that's amazing in that vid is how he chopped everything in little bits and has perfect timing while putting it back together. seriously, he doesn't miss a single beat!! he doesn't have to wait for it to loop back around or anything. that's ****in incredible

Pete Rock is a genius b....if i'm not mistaken..I think he was one of the first cats to use parrallel compression w/ his drum tracks ...Regardless..the game will forever be indebted to the Choclate Boy Wonder. Hopefully if they do open a real Hip Hop Hall of Fame....he should get automatic induction on gp alone.

Peace

Pete Rock is ill. Here is an interview on some of the basic things he does when it comes to his production. Oh but it doesn't talk about his basslines. It does have some good gems in it though.A must read for new samplers in my opinion.
