Is sampling mp3's considered bad or lazy in producing? like, compared to vinyl. What makes vinyl so much more appealing than mp3's, because they are endless on the internet (mp3s that is)

if its on the internet..chances are a bunch of people have gotten to it already..maybe not. i like vinyl because i sample it and run it through my mackie into the mpc..it warms it up..gets it nice and thick. plus, shopping for vinyl you can find crazy stuff to sample, rare records..stuff no one else has heard before...at the same time, there are lots of mp3s available online i suppose...i use vinyl, its your preference.

I had this same question. I guess its all preference though.

I mean, i`d find getting vinyls more fun. I guess i jsut dont want to keep downloading MP3`s i dont want, and taking up space on my comp. Plus, i think vinyl is less of a hassle. You can just sit down, close your eyes, and listen to the music.

Wit MP3`s u gotta get something like ********, download the songs, then look through all of them, but in the end its the same thing as vinyl.

As i said, its all on how yu wanna do it. If yu got some cash, get a turntable and some records, and listen. If your more software based, then i guess MP3`s would be good. ^_^

mp3's are compressed audio, the sound quality doesn't compare period.

i normally sample wavs (after i convert them from mp3). I'm just now gettin' in vinyl though, 'cause you can find stuff that either few or no ppl have ever heard of before. Plus records are cheap!

.... and for me, i use CDEX, so techinically when i record a track from vinyl to my PC, it's an MP3, then i convert it to WAV and begin the chop shop

All in all, i like both formats, but vinyl is the key that opens alot more doors than MP3.

here's a few reasons why i use vinyl (i use mp3s, cds, etc too) are that when you sample mp3s, alot of people are sampling those same songs you find by net digging and you will end up sounding like all the other producers out there. when i sample vinyl i get the great sound, i'm less likely to be sampling the same stuff all the other up and comers are and it's alot of fun to go digging imo.

i like vinyl because of the rare samples that i find. a lot of stuff you just ain't gonna find on the net with mp3's. i like mp3's however cuz i'm a software producer and it's just faster to process the sounds without having to go through a mixer, turntable and all that crap. just your personal preference i guess tho.

Who gives a damn about what people think is lazy or this or that. Do you. It is my opinion that true hip hop goes against what people think and is a form of expression. Express yourSELF.

Why do you record it to mp3? You would get better results if you just went straight from vinyl to wav.
