Alright, i've been making music for a while now (about a year), and have decided to venture into the realm of trance, but alas, i find that my basslines/melodies are coming up flat... any help out there!? i do primarily jungle/dnb.. yeah, i hear all of you laughing at me... but that's why i want to get into trance.. any advice would be helpful..

Oh yeah, manoone, i hate you! (just kidding!) you took my idea for the online mixing thing.. i had that back when flash 3 was out.. but you did it better than i would have done it (damnit)... anyway, a shameless plug for manoone btw.. check out his website!!! it's quite cool, this guy definately has gongfu!

If your basslines are flat, how were you managing dNb ???

The timing of bass notes in dNb are defined much clearer (in most cases sounding as individual hits), rather than in trance where a drone or sustained buzz sound is more commonly used.

The only tip i can give is to teach yourself which notes work together, and experiment from there onwards.

The only rule is, there aren't any....

Rich.

the lines i use in dnb are mostly sub-bass, such as a looping sine wave, check out my track on mp3.com (http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/207/the_wandering_daoist.html) ... i spend most of the time working on the drum lines as opposed to bass lines...

hey mano .. what are your thoughts on flash 6?
