I do, to see what the sample will sound like speeded up or slowed down before I chop it up

For me it depends. Sometimes I might wanna see how it sounds at a higher or lower pitch compared to the regular to see what "sounds best" to me I guess.

yeah i only ue it to switch 33 to 45. if it's slightly off-key, it won't mesh with anything else in the track

I can't even imagine messing with the pitch after its already in the computer. If it needs to be sped up, I do it before it even hits my computer. I try to stay away from slowing down samples though.

i think it depends. i try and set to a pitch on the t.table so i dont have to timestretch or pitch shift on the computer to much as this muddies the sound. thats for the main sample anyway. if im layering samples i'll usually get the pitch as close as i can and then stretch to beat as tuning lots of samples in cubase is hard being as you cant adjust the pitch while the rest of the beat is playing.

everyone with a turntable does it this way, and this is the original, pre-computer way of doing things. Time-stretching usually sounds like boo boo.

I wrote this song a long TIME ago...(back in '93 or '94)
