simply what im saying is i have this dope sample but the part has drums in it. I know theres no way to take out the drums completely but is it possible to make it less noticible so it dosnt interfere with the drum i lay on it.

a high pass filter is an eq that eliminates everything above a certain frequency. what he is trying to do it take out the bass a bit (bass drum probably). unfortunately, almost every instrument has sound energy in just about every frequency. its just a matter of eqing out the frequencys that the drums reside in mostly. that will lower the volume of the drums. try fuxing with it.

also there's nothing wrong with playin your drums over the drums in the sample..sometimes it adds a nice body to your drum sound

mess around with it enough and you can create your own drum pattern and noone would ever be able to tell there was drums underneath that

That's what I would suggest too, fatten them up with your own drums...

On a technicality. A high pass filter allows higher frequencies to pass while attenuating lower frequencies. Essentially it Allows everything above the selected frequency to pass while lowwering and ultimately cutting off lower frequencies.

What off said. But do that as much as you can without ruining the sample then play drums over it.

9th Wonder is great at doing that.

A good thing to do is to eq out all the low end, try rolling out 80 Hz, if the sample needs the Bass up, you could replay the Bass guitar on that to beef it up, as far as the low end on the drum track, you got the separate kicks and snares which is the main drums in the song, the sample drum sounds add a little air to the whole track, which adds to the overall feel
