About MIDI:

The answer is not MIDI... In fact, MIDI is in no way an audio protocol. It is only used to send and receive control data, such as NOTE ON/OFF, VOLUME, VELOCITY, PROG CHANGE, and so on. NO audio data is sent or received through MIDI.



This said, let me answer to your question (after reading the users guide):


1st possibility:

The SU700 does have a SCSI-2 D-sub 50 pin connector, and it says that you cna use this to load large amounts of data. This mean that you may be able to plug a SCSI storing device (such as JAZ). You can plug this JAZ on your computer first, save data on it, and load the data in your SU700.


2nd possibility (my favourite):

Well. use Sound Forge to sample things on your computer, to edit them, add effects, reverse them, to chop them around etc... to PREPARE your samples. Then, plug the LINE OUT of your soundcard to the LINE IN of your SU700, and ... well.... SAMPLE the sound of your PC!

as simple as that... you simply sample your PC while it p-lays your prepared work... and you are ready to use those samples in your SU700 right away.

If you use a good quality sound cable, you should get some great results.

Some more advices:

The SU700 is a good choice by the way.I STRONGLY recommend to expand the memory to the MAX (Maximum of 68MB, installed as paired modules of 4MB, 8MB, 16MB, or 32MB capacity. (FAST PAGE/EDO; with or without parity. ECC is not supported.))
