Every now and then I just dig for samples and record them all into one project file. And I always make sure to put the artist and track name too in case I put it on an album and need to copyright. But this way when I work on a project I can flip through my samples and see what fits. You knwo what I'm sayin?

So are y'all saying that you mix samples together (from two different songs?) or just searching for a sampled sound?

With sampling...anything goes. Keep in mind the issues that you'll have in clearing the samples, though. Truthfully, I'm a stock sort of person, if that makes any sense. Like, instead of going into FL Studio to sample a track I found, I just cut the tracks down as I get em, so when I have an idea, I won't spoil it by wasting time cutting and adjusting.

Organize your instrument samples in related folders. For example Strings, Brass,Bass and etc. Will help in th e long run. As far as the beat you got keep working until you can get bac to that guitar sound. You don't want to have to stop your creative thought process by looking for a certain instrument sample for over 10 mins. Find a guitar sound that is similar to it and keep things flowing so when you have time to make adjustment you can replace with the right guitar sample.

I definitely mix samples from more than one song usually. Gotta love the pitch shift!

Yeah I've been thinking about how I'm gonna approach some of my sample clearancing. I think I'm gonna start cuttin my samples to death to the point that no could prove where it came from. That should take care of it.

Good thread. Thanks (even though I'm not the originator). Everybody's advice is helplful in here. So, some chose to just chop samples and store them for later use? Sounds like a smart idea. That would be good to do during those times when I sit down to produce and come up blank.

Peace

well i'm starting to get into sampling more classical music (no i don't mean that movie soundtrack stuff, i mean other stuff too) cus i've been learning alot about it and u don't have to worry much about extra sounds (most don't have drums) and it's easy to get away with not clearing samples unless it's an obvious riff or loop but most of the time it's terribly difficult for people to figure out the sample. downloading a sick song i heard today that i heard a violin riff that could be used for some dirty south-esqe ****.

sorry about kinda going off topic. but the annoying part about sampling is getting a sample and not being able to use it cus of the drums or some annoying **** and it's a sick sample too. oh and clearing them for major releases sucks (not that i've really done it but i've heard the stories)
