Like most artists/producers sample from diferent sources. Me & my guy have a hook up that we can record off the T.V. right?? So, we decided to sample video games. Ludacris & Lil' Flip is my inspiration on/of sampling. Ludacris hop'd down w/ Quincy Jones, Lil' Flip got sue'd for not asking for the Pac-Man samples... I want to sample off Zelda(Nintendo). But the thing is, I already done it and I'm working on the beat right now. (There's other games to sample off of too....) Anyways, my question is: Should I ask Nintendo, Can I use the Zelda sample off the game/the music sheet notes or just do it for a mixtape song??? H*** yeah is illegal tho' but is worth asking. What should I do and tell me what do you thing about this..... Thanx..

you don't need to worry about clearing samples for most mixtapes unless it's gonna be rly rly big and even then it's not necessary.

You can put it on a mixtape without getting permission. Really the only time they gonna f with you on a sample is if you are big like Lil' Flip. Or if you dealing with a major label.
