man that happens all the time. I do alot of beats locally and what not, so word on the streets is im nice. so what you get is, people calling you up all the time saying "yo i got this artist who needs beats" or "yo u think u could work with this guy/girl/singer" etc

i get those calls/texts/emails EVERYday. more than half of the time when you get to the MONEY aspect...they slide you some BS, typically along the lines of "we dont really have cash right now but we'll help put your name out there and when we get hot we'll def look out for u" blahblahblah.


the latest i got was a dude....a grown ass man, sitting outside a supermarket while his SIXTEEN year old friend was inside working. Mind you, this dude is sitting right underneath the HUGE "Help Wanted" sign, and he's unemployed. he's walking up to random people trying to impress them with his acapella "gangsta" rap (i live in a rich neighborhood so im guessing he thought someone there could help him out), while waiting for his friend to get off work so he can go sleep at HIS house since his ass had no place to stay.

as if a grown man mooching off a teen and his parents isn't bad enough, he walks up to me like "yo you look like someone in the industry" (must be the car cause i just had on some shorts 'n slippers). he proceeds to tell me his story and starts rappin. respecting his boldness, i listened and said "i respect ur bravery comin up to random ppl so i'll give u a beat" thats when i found he had no place to stay. i asked him for a # and he was like "yeah thats my boy in there workin just take his # down and call and ask for _______" (i forgot the name he gave me). so he writes it on a napkin, i take it and go in the market. i threw that shyt away and bought my groceries and bounced.
