I'm missin that wee woo hip hop lead that is in all the hip hop gangsta west coast songs. When I do find one, it doesn't sound like the one I want. Can somebody help me with this? Thanks! I got reason 3.0

God Bless!

There's a patch called "Hip Hop Lead' in the Subtractor and a patch called "Gangsta Lead" in the Malstrom. But neither of those are really that west coast sound. I usually end up using the sine patches in the NN-19's library. They're pretty close.

actually, there isnt one sound for that. that 'west coast whine' sound that everyone is always talking about is just a sine wave. so yea, smjversion1 was pretty much right.

If you got program like cool edit or sound forge u can create sine waves. Once youve created it import it into your software and then add a mono portamento and play with the slide value then viola !

Only problem is getting the pitch because once u loop it the frequency seems to change.

I forgot too mention too, you may or may not know this, in some songs that use it, the sound's got more of a slide too it between the notes, like a pitch bend. The effect's called portamento, on the NN-19, Subtractor and Malstrom the knobs on the left of the unit about halfway down. Just adjust this to taste, so if you're trying to make it sound like a certain song and it's not sounding right, you may just need to adjust the portamento.
