Anyone who is after professional information on dj CD, Turntables, Mixers & Other, can E-mail me. I know what I'm talking about as I have worked overseas at Numark & Denon, but now currently working at Technics/Panasonic Australia. So if you wan't info before you buy equipment then look no further. If you want I can also get current pricing for decks as well as the latest released products in your favour.

I have really heard some bad things about the Numark mixers. The crossfaders on them go pretty bad quickly. Their tables, however, different story. I have a pair of Numark TT-1s, and they are awesome! Last time I checked, Guitar Center was selling them at $300 a piece. What kind of music do you spin? Do you do any scratching? Let me know what's up.

Hiya B,

that's really nice of you to offer your services - so nice in fact that I'm taking u up on the offer!

I'm looking 2 purchase a set of decks this wkend + don't know a great deal about equipment @ this point [except to check that the cross fader is not crackly]. Looking 2 buy:
2 x Technics SL1200 MK2 turn tables
1x Numark DM 2002xPro mixer
1x Technics RP DJ1200 headphones
have bargained seller down to 1600. Apparently the decks are relatively new, have never been used in a nightclub + just used 4 house parties.

From what I've seen this is a good price - what do you think?? What should I look out for??

thanx B

dD =)

Hey dD,
I'm finally getting around to replying to everyone, so you'r the first.
To start off with, one thing to look out for is if the t'tables are calibrated correctly "in other words if the pitch slide is set at 0%, if not than there will be a slight problem of when you adjust your pitch +/-, you will get a dead spot just after the 0% mark. If you don't know how to do this, I wiil find the instructions on this topic If you like. Other things to check are stuff like the switches and buttons 'to see if working properly', platter rotates without rubbing/scraping on base plate, and lastly the anti-skating and tone-arm weight is all functional. Besides all of this, you can't go wrong with technics equipment. That's why it's the No:1 seller to dj's and clubs.
The next thing is Numark 2002XPro. They are a pretty good mixer and yet once again a very popular make for dj's. A couple of things to check are all the faders on all channels, including crossfader {user replaceable for about $25 - $50 aussie $}
as well as all the pots {tones & pan etc.}
RCA connectors on rear panel and line/phono switches, and lastly phones & mic in/outs.
With the X-fader, they are obviously built to be used more than the other faders, that's why it is user replaceable. Yhe only reason why they go really quick with some dj's is that they just get too carried away or the don't look after their deck properly, as they usually last about 2-6 months with moderate usage. I personally myself have a Numark 20002XPro and have had it for about 7/8 months so far and not had to replace the X-fader yet {getting close though}.
Lastly the Technics Headphones, this is short this one. Gofor your life, but check that the plug and cable are not damaged by moving them when in use, with cale, move them where they go into tho cup for the speaker and make sure both cup work fine.
Now with the price, Ican't really comment on that, because I have not seen the decks and stuff and tested them to my likability, and if the price is US/AUD $. If it's AUD then **** yeah get em. If you like I could probably hunt down some cheapy new ones {not making any promises though}. AAAAnyway got some more mailing to do, so if you have any other Questions or any thing, send me an E (mail) that is at prodjbones@yahoo.com
or prodjbones@hotmail.com

Signing off,

How diddley dee halfoff,
TT1's are just as good as Techies, some say their even better,
However have ya seen the Vestax range, pretty wild lookin decks but with a price to match though. Now I'm not sayin this cause I've worked for Numark, but the are not a bad deck at all, it's just that a lot of dj's drive the equipment too hard at times, and with all replacable X-faders they are designed to shoot through {that's why they are replaceable}. But Numark are still working on things to overcome X-fader technology. Their decks are designed for punishing use, where as some brands are designed for stuff like crusty old mobile dj's.

The style of tunes I rip up range from Dance to 350bpm full on in ya face hardcore techno.
Yes I do scratch a fair bit but it's not something I do all the time as my Vinyl collection is pretty goochly expensive , some singles I have paid well over $250 AUD for which are almost impossible to get anywhere in the world. In total I would have around 3,000 Vinyl's in my collection as well as about 4,591 CD singles and compilations. It's amazing how much they pay you at Technics and Numark.

Times running short so i'll see round,
Chao,

How Now ravemachine,
If the decks are new than you go for it, when you get the mixer B sure to get a spare X-fader as well. Or if this reply is too late and you already have your decks then enjoy them well as you wont be dis-satisfied, as Numark T'tables are almost exact copies of Techies, just different name, colour and some have different plug setup as well as a cheaper price. Another good make is Pioneer as well as Vestax, Technics, Rane and Denon. I have also found that you should go with Direct Drive T'tables, as they have faster starting time and you dont have to change a belt if ya cain the arse off ya decks.

Keepin it short n sweet. If there's anything else E mail me at,

See Ya,

Hey mate, sweet Job!! I'm in melbourne, and have a budget of about 1100$. This guy who runs a niteclub went out of business and he's selling his setup. It is:

2 x technics 1210s.
1 x gemini pr(s??) 626 pro-2 mixer.

he wants $1850 for it, so he can go get catched. I was thinking 1300-1400 MAX. Is it a good deal? or should I get a cheaper setup??? What are the differences between 1210s and 1200s, a what are the 1210s bad points??

I heard "American DJ" do good deals for around $800 for stuff that is no to dodge. Or do you have any good ideas/deals??? love to hear from ya,

Joe. (speedoghost21@hotmailcom)
