Anybody reccommend any filter plug-ins? I'm willing to buy one thats good, because the deeper I get into sampling, the less useful the one that came with Adobe is. Any price is cool....

I have no answer to you question... but damn... there can be a thing as filtering a sample too much right? I've heard FL users say that they use alot of flitering and compression???

I was always taught to use little to no compression ... should this be said also for filtering?

First off, your right compression can slam a mix. It's hard to fix after it has been overcompressed. It goes the same for filtering, over filtering can loose frequencies you want. It's especially a tendancy to over "plug-in" when using a DAW simply because the plug-ins are so easy and fast to use.

imho the BEST filter plugin is izotope trash. it has other stuff as well... compression (multiband compression as well if thats your thing), tons of distortion algorithms (including ill tube-modelling), analog-modelling delay (including illlll tape-delay emulation), amp modelling, and a big collection of some of the best analog-modelling filters (LP, BP and HP) that i have ever heard. and it processes all this in 64-bit.

Izotope fam???..lol Yo... not to knock it, but it has way too much shyt... and not in a positive way. All those functions from my experience do more to phuck up a track than help it out. IMO...sound forge with wave bundle still maintains good clarity. But hey, whatever works for you works.

Depends on what kind of sound you're trying to get. My personal favorites are elogoXa X-cita and Yamaha Final Master, if you're talking about processing digitally on the computer - there are other interesting options if you're processing analog through a mixer or something. Good luck in your search.

yea its got tons of stuff but theres no need to use it all at once. you can bypass whatever you want within the plugin, and just use it for one or two of those features. in that sense, the multiplicity of functions doesnt really present any problem.

and i gotta reiterate, i have never heard any software filters, distortion processors, box models, or delay lines that sound half as good. again, it is a 64-bit plugin.

I ended up getting Antares Filter. It's pretty nice, you have control over every aspect of your filtering.

That Is What I Use And Recommend For A Beginner Simply Because Of The Ease Of Use But It Also Is Very Powerfull.
