Is there anyway to get this to work without key issues?

I can you low end theory which is nice, but I'd like to sample bass notes and get them to work with my samples. I tried pitching but it doesn't sound good when pitched too far. Even a little pitch still have key issues.

Am I just going to have to use synths/libraries?

if you already have music and youre trying to put a bassline to it, getting a sample that has just the right counterpoint can be tough. its doable, but sometimes it helps to do the music yourself.

then again, lots of people like to use a LP-filtered 808 sustained kick, and do a non-tonal bassline by just repeating it with whatever desired rhythm.

What makes a non-tonal bassline? Is there anything besides an 808 that's non-tonal? Where can I sample these, besides the 808?
