I think each should create its own universe and originality without being under any external influence. Skills are developped by learning. To learn you need to understand what's going on around you. Also, accuracy is important. By that's just my point of view.

The most I have ever spun on was some chronic, but my mixes get ****ty when I am high, and they start getting off beat, or I will do something stupid like knock off the needle. When I am mixing I try and stay sober, but hey, if drugs get you going, then have fun.(now I didnt say i dont have any influences;P

There is no need what so ever to spin while on drugs. I mean its about the music isnt it? Why would you need to F' yourself up while doing something you love. It doesnt make sense to me how you could enjoy mixing and be totally screwing urself over at the same time...my point of view..later

I used to play at a club every friday night at school and the last night of the semester me and my friends just got trashed. Next thing I know, I'm on the mic talking about ISAAC HAYES IS THE SH*T!!! (he is, but still) Of course my crew was recording it and now I have to listen to my messed up voice going on about isaac hayes and refusing to fade the Hayes track out until it was completely finished. After that experience, I stay sober whenever I'm around tables, whether at a show or practicing.

Hi everyone,

I´ve just read the earlier posts and have somethings to add.

This is a very delicate matter, so I´ll try be very clear.

I strongly believe that the use of drugs should be a personal option, therefore no right or wrong jugment is expected by me in this forum.

Yes, I do spin records while under the influence of psicotropics. No, I am not a professional DJ.

I enjoy music and I enjoy some chemical substances that alter my state of mind. I see absolutely no problem in putting these two things together as long as it´s your conscient option. I won´t get into defining addiction.

I´ve played under the influence of marijuana (THC), acid (lsd), ecstasy (MDMA) and once while a mushroom trip (psilocibyn) and found the effects different, both on the music played and on the drug.

There is a strong connection between psicotropics (thc, lsd and mdma for exemples) and the music style I listen to (Goa, progressive and hardtrance mainly). Just check out some of the names of the songs and bands around, like "infected mushroom", "when you smile to the cows", "mdma records", "iboga records" and "triptamin" to name just a few.

You dont need to be on drugs to enjoy music. Actually you dont need to be on drugs at all, it´s your own personal choice either to do them or not. If you did chose to do so please at least be informed about it. If any of you would like to know more about these chemical substances I strongly encourage you to visit http://www.erowid.org and http://www.dancesafe.org, they are both awesome sites intended for those interested in the subject, users and non-users.

Hope I dont get too flamed for this.

Take care,

Andreas Rauh

I'm not saying drugs are needed or anything. I was just curious if any of you do drugs while spinning at parties. I've played with my tables while high and while rolling. Its fun I think and different. But I don't know if I would do it while working a party.
