I have been spinning for about 2 months now and feel as though I am making good progress. I would like to include a Roland 307 Groovebox into my setup and I was wondering if anybody has tried doing something similar at such an early stage. If so, were you able to utilize the Groovebox immediately or did it complicate things too much?

I assume the results are all dependent upon the individual DJ, but any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I too have a similar question, I have been spinning for a while longer however (about 9 months). I am not too worried about it confusing things, but I am wondering if it is really capable of adding all that much to my sets. I don't have any experience with the groovebox, but have heard some things about it. I think it would be possible to add some "flare" with it to more mellow portions of songs or even add to the breaks and builds...
Anyhow, I hope someone could help me (us) out!

If you have a decent mixer, you can remove the drums and basses on whatever you are spinning with the equalizer and add your own. You can also use the many sounds on the 307 to add extra to the mix.
The 307 is VERY cool. It has such neat features like the turntable emulation.

I hate grooveboxes! It's like their one of those cool little cheap dj gizmo's that are good for a laugh, exept they're not even cheap!
I would recomend something like the korg kaos pad if ya wanna add a little spice, or if it's skratch emulation you'r after then althogh it's just a toy, the yamaha djx2b has a perfectly good emulator (although of course every thing else on it is lame).

If at first you dont suceed

uuh, no, don't go with a Kaoss Pad. They are fun little gadgets but the MC-307 is a very useful tool with great sound. Plus you can compse great work to play along with your sets instead of just playing with effects only.

Hi.
I am thinking of buying a roland mc 307 for dj purposes, and I was wondering about its turntable emulation.
Does it have an adjustable pitch/tempo sensitivity for the slider? If not, what % is it set to?
Is it possible to temporarily change the speed of the beatbox to align beats? You know, similar to giving a turntable a push when the mix drifts out of sync, since a "perfect" beatmix is kind of... impossible. Does it have a jog-wheel or something for this purpose?

Do you know of any other sequenzers out there with beatmix abilities similar to this one?
