Hey anyone looking to digitally record thier mixes thru thier computer should check out "n-Track" .....the shareware version is available for FREE....I thought it was too good to be true until I tried it....recorded a 65 min. long set and it came out perfect....all u need to do is:
Run "Rec Out" RCA cables on your mixer to "Line In" on your computer's sound card....run "Master" to your hi-fi....
Click on the "Record" button in n-Track, record your mix, then chop up the Level graph in the places where u want your tracks to split, and save them as seperate .wav files (CTRL+C (copy), SHIFT+CTRL+V (paste)) then take the .wav files, drag them into your CD-Burner program, and select the option (DISC AT ONCE)...this will eliminate the 2 second gap between songs, allowing your mix to be seamless...burn and distribute at your local club, get yourself a damn gig, and come back to this forum and gloat to the rest of us about your success!!!!! All 4 Free!!!!
Sure beats shellin out a couple hundred for Sound Forge, which I know is a MUCH better and more diverse program, but if all you are looking to do is record your mixes, n-Track shareware will do it for free at a very acceptable quality....hell, the program will even compress your mix to .mp3 if you want it to.....
***Note***the shareware version is lacking some of the sound effects and the "mixdown" of 2 mp3 tracks into 1 feature, and there is a little annoying box that pops up telling you to register the program....which I plan to do as soon as I get the cash...but for now.....mix on!!!!
