Lets say you find a good sample. Whats your next move? How do you flip it. I am not asking anyone for there secret tips. But what is your process. How do you take that dope sample and make it into something new and hot?

just find a good loop and add drums. but you will get madly hated on for that. here is my setup:

intro loop 1
intro loop 2
main loop 1
main loop 2
main loop 3
main loop 4
chorus loop 1
chorus loop 2
breakdown loop 1
breakdown loop 2

then you want to find little obscure parts to throw in every now and then. you just gotta visualize when you listen to it.

Or . . .

instead of looping the sample you can chop it up into seperate pieces and then play those pieces out to make a new melody.

Most of my tracks play the original sample at the begining but I chop them up in th beat. You can listen to some for an example of what I mean.

If you find a hot sample thats sounds great as a loop you can leave it and just add drums and still have something hot. It's up to you.

I am not tryin to do loops. Say you get a sample that is 2 bars at 120 bpm. You want to make a beat at 88 bpm. The sample is just a solo piano or solo guitar, ect. and you want to add drums to it.

How would you go about doing that.

I am new to making sample beats. I have a hard to adding drums to my samples. It is easy when getting a short stab or sampling one note. But what if it is alot of notes. How would you add drums to a lot of notes.

if you're not tryin to loop then the bpm shouldn't matter that much, since you chop it up to the fullest and flip it anyhow..

the bpm are mainly important if you cut a loop

noone has mentioned adding other instrumentation, which i think is important in not only maximising your tune, taking it beyind just a loop and also putting your own edge on your song

If your sampling a 2 bar piano roll and want to change bpm.. do that in acid 5 .. easiest way..
if you want to make a phat track
out of that sound.. you need
to learn how to use a sampler or a synth... from there its prety self explanitory. once you learn how a
sampler works. either plugin or hardware.. u should not be having
anyproblems. and deffinetly add
more insturmentation and percusion
and kicks and that club bass 808
