How do I get a real deep and heavy bass using the Subtractor in Reason? I'm using the basic bass guitar patch and I tweaked it get the basic sound that I want but I want to make the boost the bass some. I can't seem to figure out what setting on the Subtractor allows me to do this. Would I have to route it to another device or effect to accomplish this?

There's a patch in there called LA Riot Bass.
I love that bass.. great for hip-hop. Is that what you're looking for?

Use eq. Route the subtractor to a mclass eq and work on it's tone.
Also you have oscilators on subtractor where you can layer two octaves on top of eachother.

Another method is layering. Do the bass guitar melody track. Then record the exact same thing (or copy n paste) another track using subtractor with the sub bass patch.

Bring the channell with sub bass down so that you barely heR it under the guitar. For best results do this in a combinator.
Use a combi, a line mixer, 2 subtractors andsend the master out of the combinator going into a mclass compressor. Then route the compressor to the main mixer you made all the way up top of the screen

Sub Bass is one of Subtractors specialties.

There are plenty of presets,

Dirty South Bass
Hyper Bottom
Chronic Bass
LA Riot Bass

and countless presets created by users.

Most are just Sine Wave oscillators with the Amp Envelope tweaked with maybe some lfo pitch oscillation for modulation wheel.

Sub Bass can sound good with compression, lo pass filtering (needed occasionally), and suprisingly hi pass filtering (esp with resonance).

Sub Bass is the simplest synth programs to learn how to program. The only trick to Sub Bass (and this is the tough part), is how to properly arrange it and mix it in a track.

Sometimes people will go overboard and use like 10 lo frequency sounds and wonder why their mix sounds like crap.

808 Booms and Sub Basses typically don't well together simultaneously (alternating them in the track can work well though).

Compression, EQ...possibly layering multiple tracks of the bass line. These are just suggestions, I too am a beginner.
