Hi guys, I am new here as you can in my post count... Looks to be a good cocmmunity of musicians here!

Well anyways... I was just wondering... how to get the sustain pedal working. I am currntly using plugsound vst instruments and i want my midi pedal to act as a sustain pedal, like the one on a real pedal. Now I underestand that I am suppose to link a knob or button in fruity loops to my midi pedal... but I dunno which one to link... or am I suppose to? Can some shed some light on this for me? Greatly apprieciated... Thanks guys

Welcome!

I'm not sure about your problem, I'm not too familier with midi control.

You should be able to figure it out thorugh trial and error I would think, however, if your stuck look up your products webpage maybe they can give you a list of controls and their coresponding presets?

Can't you just record the sustain pedal into what you're recording while recording? I would think that that's pretty much plug and go.

If not, then you can do this. I hope this can be an alternative.

Left click on the upper left corner of the VSTI that you have loaded (Assuming it's a vsti). Go to "link to controller", then choose what you want to control (sustain likely in this case). Once there, the "auto detect" box should be on/highlighted. Then just press down on the sustain pedal (while having it connected to your midi keyboard of course) and that should be it there.

OH i forgot to say... that when i play the keys on my midikeyboard... the midi light indicator flashes red.. but when i press the sustain pedal.. it flashes yellow... the little led looking like light near the fruity loop clock... Why is that?

thank you for the reply btw

. When I go to my vsti instrument window top left corner to click on to the link controller part.. the "linke controller" button cant not be pressed... its just faded out. how do i make it not faded out? Thanks in advance

The light thing, that's normal. I never noticed but when I press keys on the keyboard (midi) and when I move the modulation key I get different colors also.

I think that it means that the control is not assigned yet when it flashes yellow.

As for not being able to assing a control. I am not sure why your control assignment names are faded out. Try another vsti and see if it works for that one. You can click the small arrow beside the folder icon right under the plug-looking icon in the top left corner and choosing the "aloow program editing" and see if that helps.

Or, you have to do it within the VSTi actually. It depends on the instrument that you are using.

I hope thats not the case... i have emailed Plugsound previously but they never emailed me back either...
