Hello, I'm going to buy an external firewire audio interface and I am deciding between those 3 interfaces:
1. Presonus Firebox
2. TC Electronic Konnekt 24D
3. Focusrite Saffire Pro 24
I'm going to use it only for recording rap vocals and software music production (Cubase, Reason, Ableton, Adobe Audition) and maybe I'll some day near swith from PC to Mac, so it would be nice, that works fine on Mac too.
I would apreciate if you guys coul give me some feedback, if you have any experiances with those interfaces. I want to know how stable are drivers, how good are preamps, etc. They are all in the same price range and I would apreciate every information before buying one of them.
If there is any other firewire interface, that could work better for me, please let me know.
Tnx

Make sure you choose one that has mic pres, phantom power...4 to 8 outputs and ADAT ins and outs. This way as your set up gets bigger you wont have to buy another interface...Im using the M-Audio profire 2626. And Im about to get the ALLEN HEATH firewire board.....it also has ADAT so I will be able to use the board in conjuntion with my interface.

DA WUNDAKATZ: all of them has mic pres and phantom power, I was asking for quality of them, which interface has better mic pres. Thanks anyway and leave M-Audio behind, becouse it's crap. I had M-Audio Audiophile FW interface and had a lot of problems with drivers and so on.
BlackTee: I already checked Firestudio mobile, bit it's kind of a problem if you want to get it in or near my country (I live in Southern Europe), so firebox is option for me at the moment.
I also fund Echo AudioFire 4 and read a lot of good reviws about it (sound and preamps might be comparible to those that RME interfaces are using them), so I'll put that interface as a number 4. on my wishlist. If anybody has it, please share your experiences with me.
Tnx

the firebox has very weak preamps. when cranked they become very noisey (i use to have one and upgraded to the firestudio mobile and love it). i would then go for the Echo Audiofire 4. good preamps and solid drivers.

I know you said u feel M-Audio's cheap... but that's not the case. I think they have more good products than bad, (but I agree w/ you to an extent.. I owned a MobilePre and there are much better options for the same cost. It went to crap on me in 3 years... reliability went out the window, I could barely record ANYTHING without an audio dropout by that point.)
The FW 410 (older model) and FW 610 (new model) are seen as good buys.. esp. if you have money for a 610 (about $450-$500.. but u can probably find it for less on eBay). They're stated to have good preamps. I have a used 410 and it's yielding a very good sound. I got it used on eBay for about $180 and it's the best buy/steal i've ever made.
