please tell me what you think the lyrics. Criticism is welcome, as long as it's constructive...no ignorance allowed.

On a beat as sparse as this, you really should turn your vocals up. Especially with them as muddy as they are on this track. The chorus is really nice, though, who did that?
The flow and such on the verses is really tight, besides a few overly long pauses at the beginning that lead me to believe the lines needed another syllable. It's hard to hear the lyrics, but the rhymes seem good.
Well done, get a better mic and you will start getting noticed with tracks like this.

Thanks man, I really appreciate this. I just started really getting into music within the last 2 months, so I appreciate it. What qualifies it as good in your opinion?

Okay, so I need to turn the vocals up. Also, how can I get the muddiness out? I'm using a KSM-27 (I think) and Adobe audition, stacked with waves pack. The chorus and beat was from a song called Successful by Drake (Ft. Trey Songz and Lil Wayne). I believe the chorus is actually Trey Songz, but I'm unsure of who composed it.
As for the flow and such, what qualifies it as tight? And I knew their were a few pauses, but I'm just getting into trying to get my "swagger" straight.
Thanks E., you always seem to give great advice, and you know what you are talking about, so to be told that it's worthy of notice by you is honestly note-worthy.

Hey man, appreciate the compliments.
Your flow being tight just means it is molded to the beat very well.
I honestly was surprised when you said you are using the KSM27. That's the same mic I use, and my vocals tend to be fairly crisp and clean. Maybe it's the myspace compression that I'm hearing?
What effects do you use on your vocal? I'd suggest some compression to clean it up and a little bit of reverb... some suggest EQ but I don't use it much.
Did you add some kind of effect to make it sound like it's through a phone? If that's intentional, that may be what it is.
As far as the volume just a minor adjustment will most likely suffice, and the reverb may negate the need for that... it tends to make vocals a bit more present.

It's probably my mixing and overall setup that just sucks ass, haha. My set-up is as follows: KSM<AN M-audio audio buddy<Audio in on computer.
My exact process is this:
[.1] Noise Reduction
[.2] Filters -- Parametric Equalizer -- R&BGroove
[.3] Dynamic Processing -- Compander
[.4] Dynamic Processing -- Classic Softknee
[.5] Amplitude -- Normalize
[.6] Filters -- FFT Filters -- Mastering Heavy & Wide : 2X
(I got this off a website, and I just don't know how to mix or master, so I can't really implement my Waves pack)
If you can lead me into a step-by -step, like..., general idea of what all I need and an order, that'd be awesome...something like:
Pre-Master, EQ, Compress, then...blahblahblah.
I really appreciate your help bro

I record through a Tascam US series interface directly in to Reaper.
Once my audio is in there, all I do is throw on a compressor and some mild reverb. I'm fairly new to mixing as well, but if you would be willing to send me the instrumental, vocal track, and any ad libs/back ups as separate files I will try my hand at mixing it. If you choose to do this, make sure the files you send me have no effects on them.

Reaper is a DAW... it's really great and cheap. www.reaper.fm
The Tascam interface is around $130 I believe.
And yeah, send me everything tracked out to ETSounds@Gmail.com and I'll see if I can get better results. No guarantees though.
