I used to use pro tools and that time stretch method to do this on my tracks but i know there is a better and more exact way to do this.

do you usually find out the bpm's of the acapellas you're remixing? if you got that figured out you should get pretty accurate results...

Yeah... the most important step is finding the correct tempo. U can usually tap it out if u have a tap on your midi keyboard. Once you figure that out it's smooth sailing

No i usually just estimate the time and keep making small adjustments to it. Unfortunately i dont have a tap on my midi keyboard i didn't even know midi keyboards came with that.

A lot of programs have it also. I know Ableton Live has it built in, so you can just click to the tempo.

13" Macbook Pro, Akai MPC 2000XL, Ensoniq EPS Sampler, Squier Modified 70s Jazz Bass, Epiphone SG guitar, Numark PT-01 turntable, Focusrite Saffire interface, small Mackie analog mixer, M-Audio monitors, Ableton Live 8 Suite, Reason 4, Yamaha KX8 88 key midi controller, NI Battery 3, Nanoloop, Midines, Line 6 Pod Farm, Korg padKONTROL, Korg nanoKONTROL, Arturia Analog Factory and Jupiter-8V.

You're right. i should've clarified, most keyboards built for use w/ computer software don't have it.
I have a Yamaha PSR 273... more built for learning to play piano, but also has midi. Far from top of the line but it has a tap on it.

A couple of sites you might find interesting...

BPM Database (although it may be down...it was up about a month ago at least...)

Acapellas4u (.co.uk)

Doing hip hop remixes with acapellas, I found one of the best methods for ME to sync, is to lay out the typical bar structure (once I'm *close* to the right tempo) and then make sure that the hook/chorus beginning lines up properly for each one, and that usu. does the trick. You can also tap tempo from the original song on itunes or rhapsody
