all the tutorials im finding are worthless
mpc-tutor.com has great tutorials, they cost money though, not a huge amount. i would not be able to use my mpc1000 if i had not gotten their beatmaking on the mpc1000 package, which includes an ebook and mpc files for tutorials. don't buy the bonus drums or instruments though, it's a waste of money. you're better off pulling drums and brass hits and all that off songs with sounds you like. i paid $20 extra for something called "pete rock drums" and i honestly only like about 20 drum hits on it, you can get compilations like this free if you don't want to pull sampled hits anyway.

also this dude rios has videos on youtube of the bare-bones very basic shit, i honestly don't think he knows how to use his mpc500 but when i was using the 500 that's how i started before i bought afformentioned tutorial.

some basic advice i have is if you're using an mpc get recycle to chop the samples and some type of software to edit the samples and mix/master etc. i use recycle and soundforge.
