Problem with installing plugins in ableton?

Okay so here is the problem:

i use a pc andi've installed massive and fm8 in my plugins but for some reason i can't get them to work,
i got into preferences in the file folder section and tried to use my vstplugin file in programfiles(x86) but nothing happened,
i did try to switch to off reoppen it and turn it on or hit rescan multiple times but nothing happened.

Installed ableton on my new mac and installed a handful of pspaudioware plugins simply by double clicking and installing to macintosh hd.
