Just wondering is there any rules where you should do drops in a beat for example at the end of a certain bar etc or just do drops whereva it sounds nice, trying to make full length beats with drops.

Wilyby You place your drops where ever you feel like it.. whenever you think i want a drop here.. then you add a drop.

Music is subjective there is no right or wrong... just good or bad... so just do what you thinks good!

I agree - There are no rules to making music. But with drops, put them where you want. Maybe to accent a part of the melody, or to add a dynamic before a big hook hits. Also, drops can be added after the full song is produced, to frame a clever rhyme, or give the MC a spot to really drive home a point. Do what sounds good, though.

Unless you have somebody ready to rap on it I'd just do it every 4 or 8 bars.

If not people are basically dumb and would be like "herp derp why is there no music here".

Most folks simply don't have the foresight to see shit properly.

Kind of like 'Today Was A Good Day' if you tried selling that instrumental today guaranteed 1/2 dudes would be like "too plain and repetitive".

And TBH I do agree but that shows how much of a difference somebody rapping over a beat can make.

this goes for both subdrops and music stops... down beats. preferably the one, but if your guy is going mio energy on everything find the down beat of those lyrics.

yh I mean it kinda works like how DJ's will drop the beat out on the 4 bar or whateva where the rapper drops the punch line.

Most artists asked the engineer to create the drop themselves by cutting the beat.

Rap artists prefer the drop to be at the end of the 4 or 8 bars or depending on where their punchline hits.
