How much of his synths are preset? what does he used for sound design? how does he get such an original sound with his instruments?

of course im talking about shock value timbaland not 20/20........ maybe Tom Ford but defintiely not 20/20 lol

Timbaland used a lot of vanguard and gladiator around that time,so check those VSTs out

As far as an original sound,you get that by trying out new songs and just being you.Add your own flavor to drums.Try a new way of mixing.Tinker with effects you've never used-Eventually you'll find original ways of doing things just like Timbs team does

Timbo uses alot of samples go to who sampled.com find some songs he sampled on youtube once you find a loop learn the chords or the key of the song and find a cool instrument to inhance the melody boom you got timbo beat oh yea he uses alot of percussion to cover up your chops...

The questions you are asking have been asked about timbaland since the first song he released. No one knows, he uses one thing one time and then moves on. While you might be able to find a sound that he used, you'll find that his process of tweaking and manipulating the sound is his own creativity and you'll never be able to recreate that. Hes used like 5 preset sounds his whole life.
