Singing in the relative minor way of a major key

HiI'm not really into music theory, I'm just curious and trying to get into it by discovering keys, relative keys, chords and chord progressions etc.But I know that the key A-minor and C-major have the same components in it, they only differ in arrangement so they sound different. So do any other major keys and their relative minor. I like to know what it would be like to sing in A-minor on a beat that is in C major, or the opposite. eg Singing happily (major) on a beat that is a bit dismal (minor). As each of them shares the same components (C-D-E-F-G-A-B) I think they would not sound discordant or detuned whatsoever. So what would it be like? Is there any good example of this used in a song?
