signature sound?

do any of you have what you would consider to be a signature sound, something that you have to have in a beat before it sounds complete to you?

as of late i'm really into the portamento sinewave leads with heavy modulation, they remind me of the g funk era but they also perfectly complement todays more synth heavy beats.
