So I've been trying to emulate this lovely sound that Zedd's got in is song Slam The Door.

You can hear it if you seach for "Zedd - Slam The Door (Official Video)" on youtube between 0:06 - drop 0:34)

*can't link cause of my low post count*

I'm talking about the piano chords, don't take me wrong I've been TRYING for hours literally!
and still cant manage to make it sound right. So I'm asking you now, for help and tips.
I'm rocking Ableton for your information, and am about to pull out my hair.

    Thank you for help!

Hmm maybe I was a little bit confusing. I'm talking about how to emulate the actual SOUND, not what chords that are being played. Thank you anyways bandcoach.

    Hey man

im 99% sure its just a reversed sample. If you are already using a sample then (in ableton) click on the sample and click on the Rev. button. This will reverse the sample, be sure that the sample you are using has a long tail by adding some reverb. If you are using a synth, record on a new channel and do as above. If u need more clarification just ask

    good luck

It's either a reversed sample or it's a piano sample being played through a slow attack adsr - my feeling is the latter, as the things that let us identify it as a piano still exist in the sound, i.e. the majority of the sound is played forwards not in reverse.......

Great thank you! If I'm using a sample, can I change the attack of it? I've tried to sidechain it to make the effect but still doesn't sound good. I don't want the chords to hit so hard. Thank you.
