Old School Hip-Hop Drum pattern?

I've been playing around with fruity loops for a while but i cant replicate the "classic" Hip-Hop drum pattern found in songs such as Halftime by Nas and more recently 9-24-11 by Action Bronson. So How do i get this pattern without putting the snare/clap on the 6th beat?

That action bronson one is a popular drum break... I forgot the name at the moment but I do know I have it somewhere. The nas "Half Time" Just sounds like another drum break (An Example: The Funky Drummer) chopped up and re arranged with an 808 on top most likely... just start looking for drum breaks to get that oldschool hip hop feel in your tracks.

Hey, thanks for the help and can you message me the name of the drum break if you remember it?

Never-mind i found the drum break. Its from Rain Rain Go Away by Bob Azzam.

Stylus RMX comes with a lot of classic drum breaks already chopped and ready to go. Also I have a folder on my hard drive called 300 Classic Breaks or something like that if I can find it I will hit you back.

basically i like to use a lot of hi hat or ride, and then only a bass and snare. nothing faster than 8th notes usually. none of those drake 32nd note hats

Classic hip-hop has one of two forms depending on whether you break the beat into threes or twos. Sometimes you add a groove template to either one to make it swing a little.......

Here is the beat as it would be in threes

Yeah you have to get a good drum break with an 808 to get that real old school feel. this track I did has a bit of an old school feel, have a listen and tell me what you think

You should get some drums sampled from Vinyl.

Croup Drums you should check. He has Deadly Drums & Filthy Drums kits that sound real nasty.

Hey this is kind of unrelated but how do you get samples to match up with snare hits on Fruity Loops?

yeah I think its the same break on both those tracks... just ask on YT and someone will tell you, then search the break (on YT)...

it's usually cutted from vinyl records, try found some library

Old school hip hop drum pattern, classic is crunchy snare, kick and hit hat with good sample.
