I think it depends on what your really looking for... you don't wanna bombard yourself with many VSTs all at once.
There are must have samples linked in my sig for your drums
What kind of music do you do? I really like Komplete 7 for my style. I use a different DAW, but Image Line has a lot products that you can test with demos. Id say start there and just try hella demos from different companies. Others use Omnisphere and IK, just try out everything before you drop cash.
GoodLuck

I have to agree with GnzChris. If you're looking into VSTs, try to figure out what you'd need more of first. If you need something in piano, try to look for a good VST or two that may fit that need. If you need synths, try to find some that fit that need. Don't overwhelm yourself with too many VSTs and then not know what you should do or what to use. Not to mention, lots of VSTs on your PC and loaded up can slow down your production. In the end, it boils down to what you need most, but more so, what works best for you in your production needs. I personally use soundfonts.. VSTs became a power drain for me. lol
Cubase/Logic/Ableton/Reaper/ Any other DAW will give you a better start.....

I personally can't imagine working without kontakt. It's a must have .The strings from kontakt are amazing, don't like the brass tho.If you can afford it or have other means of getting it like second hand from ebay or something I really recommend KOMPLETE 8 or 7.I have komplete 7 and don't even feel the need for anything else.
Really depends on the kind of music you're into and where you're interests lie. Vsts can be all in one packages or extremely specific, and some VSTs that are really popular cross DAW lines (specific synthesizers, drum kits, etc)
i like sawer for FL but that comes in the box. as for vst's see if massive can be loaded as a vst.
