I don't know how to explain it really. I came up with this beat while watching Pirates of the Caribbean with my god son and nephew. The scene was when the Intercepter was getting chased by the Black Pearl. Heard a similar chord in the Kraken's attack song. Something in the bass ensemble sounded heavy...as I listened to it, I thought how a harp wouldn't sound right because of the notes in key but, with the right key, the harp and notes would sound aight...the full ensemble was mesmerizing. They're right about what they say in Hollywood, "A terrible soundtrack can make a movie horrible."

I don't think I'm good at this beat stuff. I think I'm a bum and should stick to writing but...this is what I came up with. Hope y'all enjoy.

Yo thats sick man... did you sample audio from the movie? or did you remake the chords. I think the crash is a little too loud? I heard a little clipping...

Thanks...I actually redid the entire chord...it was pretty simple really...I'll try to tone down the crash...any other recommendations? Feel free to comment...

    I use Cubase LE...have no clue what I'm doing...but that's what I'm using...

Music from Pirates of the Carribean is crap.

Klaus Badelt (the composer of Pirates...) can't compose to save his life, he is so devoid of musical creativity that all he can create is loud obnoxious 'drums' and percussion to hide the fact there is little music underneath. I have seen the sheet music and trust me, take those f'ing drums out and you're not left with very much.

This is a bad way to compose, anyone who relies on drums and percussion to carry a piece of music will fail and Klaus has proved that.

However, he has made a lot of money making crap like this, but does that really justify having a complete lack of creativity.

My suggestion is go out and buy the Michael Torke CD, released by Naxos and recorded by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. It features the following works: Rapture (Percussion Concerto); An American Abroad; Jasper.

This is music of the purest kind. The Percussion Concerto is brilliant, not only because of the amazing percussion parts (performed by one player) but the actual music is very riviting. The other two works are immensly powerful. My favourite is An American Abroad.

So, please do yourself a favour, stop listening to complete commercial garbage, listen to some real music.

Dance Producers MUST (I really do emphasis MUST) listen and become aquanited with Steve Reich - the guy who actually started Techno - NO ARGUMENTS!

Oh I listen to other orchestrated pieces. I was just saying that I was watching the movie and the idea came to me. I listen to Holst, Bach, Joplin...hell, I played the oboe for 7 years...

Why am I vindicating my production stimuli?

You're right. Steve Reich's "Drumming" is pure crap, too.

So is all tribal drumming. Pure noise!

Don't even get me started on Butoh. Those Japanese obviously have no idea what they're doing!

My thoughts exactly...I mean I like all classical music that sounds tight...the God of War soundtrack, I think its nuts!!!

I take his opinion but personally, I don't think he had anything "Bad" to say about the beat so he put his input about my inspiration. I didn't sample the chord, I just said it put my chord in my head....
