melody whats makes a melody any one understands music is there a certain amount of ba

The basic knowledge of melodies is playing what you feel.

Of course you can construct a melody logically, but its better to let it out naturally imho

melodies can happen two ways... playing around on the keyboard with an instrument you like until something jumps out at you, or by filling in a chord progression and playing overtop of that. i find that if you know your theory the second method is much more productive, and still leaves room for expression.

there's really no easy way around the music theory... you need to put your nose to the grind and start with scales and work your way up to chords and such. people try to look for the fast way around it with youtube videos and scale shift midi effects but that will only get you so far.

hunt and peck vs transcribe what is in your head; the latter is going to be far more successful in the long run.

So not only learn about scales and chords but also practice identifying melodic sequences (sequences of intervals played one after the other) and rhythms; teoria.com has a great set of tools to help with all of this.......
