To me, the main thing about flutes is the first few milleseconds of the sample. When you hear the player breath into the flute, the 'attack' is the most important part. Add a little volume swell to the rest of the sample (cause an average flute player can't keep their breathe steady for too long) and it sounds real. As long as the attack, the first part, where the player's breath hits the flute, it sounds authentic.. to me anyway.
