Learning Synthesizers

I'm starting to get more into electronic music, and I use Reason 7, which is supposed to be really good for ppl
who use synthesizers. However, I have no idea where to start.

If you're an experienced/great synth user, how'd you learn to do that?

Did you study synths in books?
Read off a website?
Experiment non-stop?

Any guidance helps. Thanks.
