Kid Urban's 808s

I was browsing through my sample collection yesterday, and i came across kid urbans christmas beat kit, and i was looking at his 808s - does anyone know how he got them to sound like that? Everytime I open Zebra 2, or Sylenth1 to make a custom made 808 I can't get close to that sound.

Ive tried compression, zebras distortion settings etc, its not the same. Here's some audio examples of the 808s in question:

Most of the his 808 can be found in lex luger drum kit. He's also layering a kick over them.

The biggest difference between all 808 kick drums are how secondary harmonics are presented. Everybody will start with a sine wave, but the post effects are where the alterations come into play! Fabfilter Saturn, Maxxbass, and tube compression have been my go to effects lately. They simply add minor amounts of distortion. This distortion creates harmonics which can be pushed to make it more squished or roomier or crunchier. Distortion and saturation are fun tools to take advantage of when learning the art of bass.
