How to start a beat like this???

I love the live feel of this.
I do a lot of hiphop beats and work mostly in hiphop tempos (60-95 BPM)

I wanna get into doing this type of beats very uptempo and fast. (100-120 BPM)

Im soo use to having the kick, snare and hats playing such a big part of the beat in hiphop.

But at this fast tempo the kick, snare and hats are pretty much the least part of the beat.

So much chord/melody changes, tom fills and breakdowns....

But where does a producer start with a beat like this???

I wanna start messing with uptempo pop, rock beats

But listening to the quick simple kick and snare hits at the 100-140 gets very repetitive quickly.

Any Advice???? :/

chordally very nice

Em7- D/E- Bm7 - Em7

chorus/bridge

Am7-Am7-F#m7b5-B7#5

Em7 ~ E-G-B-D
D6/E ~ D-F[sup]#[/sup]-A-B with an E in the bass
Bm7 ~ B-D-F[sup]#[/sup]-A
Am7 ~ A-C-E-G
F#m7b5 ~ F[sup]#[/sup]-A-C-E
B7#5 ~ B-D-F[sup]##[/sup]-A

bass is using riff like approach to chord spelling (the notes played are part of the chord but used in a repeating riff pattern) with occasional passing tones

this is very reminiscent of the Off-the Wall Album in terms of arrangement

for your drums just do what works best: switch it up every 2nd bar, big fills every 8 bars or 12 bars (depends on your underlying structural design), match hits from the brass with cymbal crashes etc

consider alternate voicings for the chords so that they
1) crunch a bit (close together like B-D-E-G or D-E-G-B for an Em7 chord)
2) be more sparse and so can ring out (D-G-B-E for that Em7 chord)
