I don't need exact number of hours cause then this is probably gonna turn into a giant pissing match.

But anyways I'm curios what % of your time making music is dedicated to what?

I'm talking in terms of any facets you can think of where your specific intentions are the progression of your music such as: digging for samples, practicing instruments, studying theory, listening to music with the intent of being inspired, sound design/synthesis, etc. etc.

Feel free to be as detailed as you'd like to be.

I'm older with a full time gig and family, so I have to fit music in. I'm actually trying balance my time better musically b/w practice/theory and making beats. But if I'm not at the gig, I'm listening to music some kinda way.
Jazz cats use to tells these narratives about Trane practicing up to 18 hrs a day when he was in the shed. Not sure if that's possible for me, but that's musical excellence and dedication to me.

For drums, I always try to work on it until it feels completely fluent and catchy. (I produce Dubstep btw). For my synths, it really depends on what I'm doing. I've spent an easy 18-24 hours total just designing a synth, because I'm a bit of a perfectionist. I like it to be EXACTLY what I'm thinking in my head. As far as designing my melodies, I don't have that down yet. I figure out my chord/note progressions pretty quickly, because they just pop in my head, but they're usually complicated. So getting my melody progressions/patterns ideas from my head to the DAW is what sucks up most of my time, simply because I'm less experienced in that field.

I spend at least 2 hours a day practicing guitar as far as scales, chord progressions, and overall technique goes. Generally, I make sure to practice after breakfast and before bedtime. I pretty much spend all day thinking about theory, especially when i'm at work. Right now, i'm practicing transposition and soloing in regards to the I-IV-V progression. I've figured out a pretty neat system for quickly finding which chords I need to play when someone says, "play I-IV-V in the key of F".

Hmm, I haven't really ever counted the times I spend on actually making music. I usually make the whole beat in an hour, two at the most. Then spend time mixing it the next day for like 2-3 hours probably. I like to finish the beats fast because if I work on the beat for days or a week, i totally lose the inspiration for it. Rest of the day I spend time reading forums, handling sales, staying in touch with clients and marketing. That's pretty much a basic day for me.

I spend half of the time to make my drums loops and my melody it can takes 45 minutes or 1 h but sometime more than 2 hours.
For the mix its often between one and three hours.
