Well before you hate, im going to use Lex Luger as an example. If you listen to beats like Hustlin and GangBang by Wiz and a few others, you can see he has something that many other producers don't; intricacies. The wierd random background noises, the constant switchup in percussion and melody...How do I get my beats to sound more intricate and different??? maybe im just too lazy to click away allll day

If you have to ask, you'll never understand.

Just keep doing what you love, and experiment a lot. You'll get your sound pretty soon.

the thing is, you can hear something a producer did, and try as hard as you can to replicate that sound, but you're never gonna succeed 100%. you're never gonna get exactly the same sound. do that enough times, and your ideosyncracies as a producer start to shine through.

learning from others does not mean surrendering your individuality.

This is very true. I used to think, "why you wanna copy what ____ is doing? Do ya own shit" until I started learning guitar and piano and realized imitation is what everybody does to learn their craft-you study the masters, practice their techniques, and tweak it so that its yours. Now, it doesn't mean you have to go learn a ton of music theory or sound design, but imitation is often the best form of education. Just don't settle for being a clone.
